May, now using my MacBook ----- Original Message ----- From: Esther To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, September 12, 2009 4:23 AM Subject: Re: thanks to everyone Hi May, As James mentioned, VLC is a good alternative player if you don't want to use iTunes. You'll need to download this from: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ You can also use QuickTime player, which is installed on your Mac, if you select a track and use the "Get Info" (Command-I) dialog as James outlined for VLC. Use item chooser menu (VO-I) to find "Open with" and VO-Right arrow to the pop up button. VO-Space and use your arrow keys to change the setting from iTunes to QuickTime player, or to VLC if you've installed it. Then VO-Right arrow past "Use this application to open all documents like this" to the "Change all" button and press with VO-Space. If you navigate to "Open with" and hear "collapsed disclosure triangle" use VO-Space to expand it so you can read the information under the "Open with" options. HTH. Cheers, Esther James wrote: Hi May, You could try VLC Player. I don't have a URL for it but you'll find it on Google. VLC will not play Audible books though as far as I know though so you'll need ITunes for that. Also, once you have VLC installed you can use Command I to bring up the Get Info dialogue on your audio file and change the default player from ITunes to VLC. This will play all your files in VLC after this at least it should do. I just wanted to send a quick thank you for all the help I've received the past few days on getting use to my mac. Once I started getting use to how things were laid out and such, it wasn't that bad. Surprisingly enough I haven't forgotten and tried to do a windows command on my mac. Now I've gotten the basic stuff I need at least for now to keep me going and playing with for school stuff, I need a slight change. How and what do I look for to play audio cd and books, things like that? I don't want it to use ITunes and that keeps happening. I thought quick player would work, but that didn't do it either unless I'm missing something, which is possible, smile. So any help with this part would be great as well. Thanks again for making my switch to mac a little easier than I thought it would be. Not a walk in the park, but not so scary now either.
