This can be done but it would be a very bad idea since you would no  
longer get the system alerts, and the Speak Selected Text command  
wouldn't work either.

There are two levels of crash logs: one in your Home folder and the  
other at root level. In each case, you open either your Home folder or  
your HD, then go to Library, then Logs. In Logs, you'll find Crash  
Reporter. If all else fails, you can open the Console utility and hunt  
through that.

Without a doubt! There are minor irritations with it, but on the  
whole, it's much more flexible. For instance, you can now set a hot  
key to switch between DOM and Groups mode on the fly. There's Quick  
Nav which allows you to operate your Mac one-handed. There's the  
ability to switch voices on the fly which I use constantly to switch  
between French and English. I used to have to use VisioVoice to read  
my messages in French, but now I just use VO-Command-Down Arrow and  
Margaux starts reading. Then I repeat the command and Fred is back.

There's lots more but I think these are things you'll use a lot.
