Thanks for the feedback, guys. i have a late 2009 Mac Mini running Mavericks. It doesn't lag if I invoke the command immediately the second and subsequent times.
I don't use dictation at all on the Mac. Do speakable items have to do with dictation? I'll try disabling them and see what happens. Teresa On the other hand, there are different fingers.
