Another thing that you can look at is absolutely free on every Mac. From the 
Terminal app, look at sqlite3 the man page explains how to use it. Yeah, this 
is on the geeky side and may not really meet your needs but it appears to be a 
good SQL based system that is freely available.

I think I will mess about with it some.
