I think they mean in general regarding an actual slow bootup. I'm
referring to what I thought was a problem with my Macbook Pro 2012
running Mavericks but it appears to be some ignorance on my part.

Hi,
Not sure where they got those times from. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Mac
boot up that slow since the early 90's. My MBP is ready to login after about 6
or 7 seconds, although, that's with an SSD. My iMac takes about a minute, has
a spinning HD, is running Server software, and it has four external drives
connected. I've forgotten where this thread started and what kind of machine
you're running.

Hi all
Got an update on the slow bootup of my mac. Apparently it's me not calculating
how long it actually takes to boot up according to friends Gary Price and Lewis
Crack when I brought it up in a Skype conference. They say it should take on
average two minutes to boot. I think mine is less than that (over a minute) so
definitely not slow at all; in fact it's the reverse. Also when they refer to
slow boot they mean boot times longer than 10 minutes. I will have to use the
stopwatch on my iPhone at some point and post the estimated time of how long it
takes to boot my mac up. So watch out for that. For those who did help thank
you; it was very much appreciated.
