There are at least two ways to spell check on the Mac. 1. Focus on a misspelled workd and then press open the short cut menu by pressing VO+shift+m. Now, sugestions will be offered for correction.
2. My personally favorite way is that any time I want to spell check, I press Cmd+colon. This opens up a dialog similar to what you were talking about with F7. The first misspelled word is highlighted, Now, if you have Voice OVer set to automatically interact with the tab key as I do, you just tab over to the table list of sugestions for corrections. Now, to actually make Voice Over spell a suggestion, use Cmd+w twice. Sent from my Mac, the only computer with full accessibility for the blind built-in!
