I'm in the process of developing an AppleScript to change the name of tables in
Pages. It's not as straight forward as for Numbers for a couple of reasons.
However, I've pretty much nailed it down but for one thing.

For some reason, tables in Pages seem to be somehow locked or invisible to
AppleScript unless they were themselves created by AppleScript.

Related to this is the fact that, at least for me, when I select a table, go to
the Arrange tab of the Format Inspector, the position coordinates for the table
seem to be unavailable. I never noticed this before, so not sure if it's
something I've somehow done accidentally, or if this is a bug/feature of Pages.

Could others please test for me if you can access the position coordinates for
a table in Pages? If so, please let me know which table in which document
and/or send me a copy of the document to test.

If you know a thing or two about AppleScript and have the time and inclination
to help, let me know and I'll share my script and perhaps you can give some
feedback.

Many thanks,
Nic
