Hi, Just to clear up some info here. Usually, if you have successfully installed the MacOS onto an internal or external drive, it is automatically bootable. The only expectation is that the partition map scheme is GUID. When in Disk Utility, when first setting up your drive, you can select the drive, select the Partition tab, go to the Options button, select the GUID Partition Map scheme and Apply it. You can subsequently install your Mac OS on it. Normally, the install will fail if it's not initialized with the is scheme but stranger things have happened.
