Hey Tim, Not sure if it was a temporary fix or if it completely fixed the issue, but last night I had the dock pop up yet again when reading a web page, and I did your suggestion of hiding the dock or just toggling that option in the Apple menu and it seemed to work, so just wanted to say thanks and let others know that that could be the solution.
