You could also give Libre Office a whirl but last I tried it I found the
Apple iWorks stuff better behaved and easier to use. Seemed that all
these open office things went from basic VO support to nothing and are
now getting back to 'something' but it's taken them years.

would not let me hear back what I've typed. It could sure do with room
for improvement. Finally you cannot press buttons in the normal way;
you have to press space once the button is in the VoiceOver cursor. I
since quickly uninstalled it by simply moving the app to the Trash and
will go back to Pages/Numbers/Keynote as the office suite for the mac.
