I think it asks that because spreadsheets, unlike other documents, require a lot of formatting. They can be very large and you don't want to send a huge spreadsheet to your printer. So, it makes you go through some selection process of what you want to print. That's my best guess. At least that's how it worked on the window side. Good luck.
