Wait a few hours and try to reopen your Gmail "All Mail" folder. Deletions take a very long time. Eventually, assuming you've correctly performed a delete and expunge, your All Mail should be empty or very nearly empty, and all the mail should be in Trash, from whence, in 30 days or so, it will ultimately be deleted by Google.
