Hi all, I know we've done this before, but I just can't quite get the hang of Spotlight. I can do searches, and I use it all the time to launch apps. the problem is when there are multiple matches, and I need to find an item that doesn't come up as the top hit. Whenever I have to investigate the list of results, one of three things happens:
1. I arrow, and can navigate the list just fine, but enter opens the item before or after the item VO spoke. If I arrow to item 5 and press enter, item 4 might open instead of item 5. 2. I hear the dreaded "system has new window" as I move through the list, and then my arrows fail to do anything. The only way to get out of this is to close Spotlight and start all over again. 3. I get stuck in a list of three items: web search, Wikipedia search, or Spotlight preferences. No matter how many matches my search returned, those three items are the only ones I can arrow through; even the text field is gone when this happens. As in #2, the only way to recover is to close Spotlight. This one seems to happen most if I use vo-up/down instead of unmodified up/down. Rarely if ever am I able to just arrow through the list of hits and open one. What am I doing wrong? Why does Spotlight hate me so much? I've recently come to embrace the awesome power that is the tag, and I'm loving it since I can easily search for files. However, choosing a match is proving to be more trouble than just manually sifting through Finder and ignoring Spotlight altogether. Any help would be wonderful.
