Hi,

I'd be interested to assist you wherever possible.  I use a Gmail iMap account 
through work, an iCloud account for this list and other iMap or POP accounts 
for various other purposes.  As the Gmail account I use is for work, it is an 
extremely important account and, other than the issues when Mavericks first was 
released, my Gmail account works just fine now with none of the issues you're 
speaking of.
