If you are trying to use bookshare, just use the web reader. It works
fairly well, I suppose. They could do much, much better, but here isn't
the place to criticize them.

hopefully someone can direct me to it. Trying to use it in 10.9.

olearia works on Mavericks but is basic. There is no way for example
to accelerate playback.
In the UK the RNIB Talking Book Service whilst formally supporting
Daisy has virtually abandoned the format.
They no longer provide Daisy Players for Book Subscriber and instead
point to the availability of cheaper mp3 players which customers can buy.
Since January this year all RNIB Books are now simply structured so
that they will now simply play as an mp3 audio Book with a single
mp3 file for each chapter or part of a book named sequentially.
So if it is Audio output from a Daisy Book you want I think you will
find that you can get this from many simple media players like VLC.
You can accelerate playback. You can also jump to time and fast
forward and rewind.
As RNIB and other Daisy Books are essentially collections of mp3
files now you could theoretically use something like Audio Book
Builder to play them in iTunes I guess, but I halve never done this.
