It's a matter of choosing the best tool for the task at hand. For instance, when writing my thesis, I used LaTeX and Emacs, which together provide a superb environment for writing and editing documents destined to be printed or presented on screen. For simpler documents, one can use MarDown, reStrucredText, Emacs Org-mode and similar input formats that can be converted to a variety of output file formats. I can be very productive without a word processor or office suite, in circumstances where compatibility with office file formats isn't a necessity (and, as I remember, Pandoc can convert Markdown to office formats as well). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
