Apple's standard policy is to support the current OS and one version
back. All else before is cut off with some very rare exceptions.

FWIW, my first plastic Mac will likely fall due to Apple's
obsolescence, in which case it should run either Snow Leopard or
Windows 7. I suppose that, if security is a concern, it will be
Windows 7. Then the circle will be complete; that machine is where
I started on Windows Vista, with the intention of moving to OS X for
more than just development work. Gosh.
