Hello Janine, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro with retina display and ported all of the settings from my old MacBook Pro to it using the Migration assistant.
All, or so I thought anyway, almost all of my preferences were transferred over except the shortcut key to launch iTunes. Upon reading your post, I just created, via the VoiceOver Utility, the key-combo Option+I to open iTunes and it works perfectly; that is to say, when I use the key-combo Option + I, iTunes opens directly into the previously selected iTunes Library. So, I must conclude that the discrepancy between your result and mine must have something to do with the options you chose during the creation process. When I created the key-combo, under the actions Menu, I chose Custom Action and then selected Open Application. Did you do the same? I hope this helps. When I use the key I created it takes me to a dialogue box asking me to choose an iTunes library. Using the dock to go iTunes, it takes you directly to the sources list inside iTunes. Is there anyway to get to the same place with the short cut key? Any ideas why it should present this box? Appreciate a comment from anyone who has achieved this. Easy enough to use the dock so no hardship if it can't work. Thanks.
