I've never found a way. I normally just download the file (vo-shift-m inside the video playback area in Safari), then open it in VLC. I use VLC because it can play at a volume up to four times the file's maximum, I can skip around by different increments, I can type in a number of seconds to skip to, and I can play the file back at an increased speed, perfect for podcasts or skimming audio I recorded to check for obvious mistakes.
