+1 for Rumola. First class service. Yes it's paid, and I really, really don't want to know what other activities I might be sponsoring, but it brings us back to our rightful place on the web.
You don't need Firefox; all the extensions are here on Safari, too: Adblock, Daring Fireball with Comments (if you read his output), and Rumola. Adblock can pull in lists like antisocial to filter those sharing buttons out, and prebake to get rid of EU cookie notices.
