When you open a document in TextEdit, press command+shift+w to hear whether it 
says wrap to window.  This is a toggle command.  It wraps the text either to 
window or page.  You want to hear voiceover saying "wrap to window".  I always 
do this with my documents because otherwise I can't read them properly past the 
first page.
