Hi Gigi, That's really strange. I have a 5S2, and have neither of those problems. I can type in the search field and bring up the letters to select. The one thing I have noticed is that for some reason it often jumps up to the top of the page so I have to use the three finger swipe up to page down to get back to the search Fields.
