Hi Hank. Unfortunately, I haven't used Adium in a long time but I do
know that Adium somewhere has built in speech notifications that you
can set to have contacts sign in and out. If you still want to use
Adium, someone else can chime in. I only know how to set notifications
to speak with Trillian.

not yet but plan on it.
I got adium up but I can't get it to tell me who is signing online or
offline, or is this where using trillian and growl would come in to
play?

Hi Hank. If you're going to go that route, have you downloaded
Trillian as well?

Hello I did get it purchased how do I set up growl to read my
facebook online and offline contacts when they sign on and off and
also read incoming messages?

You will be interested to know that growl can still be found in
the app store.

Hey Hank. There's a couple of apps that I know that will let you
do what you want. The first is called Adium. I can't remember the
website so just do a google search and that should be the first
result. The second app you can get free from the Mac App Store is
called Trillian. I like this app because not only does it read
when people go online and offline, but will also read your
contacts' news feeds automatically. The only thing is it requires
an app called Growl to read these notifications since the last
time Trillian was updated was some time in 2012, before Mountain
Lion and its notification center came out. Also, because most
apps nowadays except for the app mentioned above use the
notification center, I don't think Growl is even still in the App
Store. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, and if Growl still is
there and you decide to go the Trillian route Hank, email me on
or off list and I'll try to help you the best I can.

Hello is there a voice over app that will speak on and offline
