Hi Juan I wasn't going to write about this because I couldn't find an easy answer to this, and I think there is one. I have a blind friend who just bought a MacBook Pro under Mavericks, gotten about three weeks ago. We had the same thing happen with hers that you are describing when we restarted the computer. I was helping her learn a little VoiceOver before she went back home and started her one-to-one training. I couldn't figure it out, but when she did go for her training, Apple fixed hers right away so that the computer defaulted to her as the user, which resulted in the VoiceOver coming up with her desktop and everything.
I found an article after I read your post that describes how to set a default user. I did it by typing in "default user in Macintosh". This step by step process, but it sounds like yours truly wouldn't want to do it. I never did all they described in the article because Apple fixed mine so I never did have to go through the choices you are describing and those my friend had on her brand new computer. I guess for sighted people it's easy because you can just click on the user. I researched this, as I said, and I am sorry I didn't find an easier answer. If you are a new Mac user you definitely don't want to do what was described on the Internet. If you are in the States, you might want to call Apple accessibility at 877-204-3930. Otherwise, I hope someone else can come up with a better answer than I found on the Internet.
