While I haven't downloaded Yosemite myself yet, in the past I sometimes got stuck on a slow server or something such that it crawled along. The fix was to just cancel the download and try again. Usually I ended up on a faster server and was able to get faster throughput.

I have a cable connection, 60 MBPS. Why is my Yosemite update downloading as if I was running an Apple 2E with 64K and a 2400-baud modem? is this me, or Appstore?
