Thanks Tim.

There are no updates available and the problem is completely random.  I could 
be in my mail getting messages, switch to Safari and then it goes out.  
Sometimes I can get it back by selecting my network from the menu extras, and 
sometimes I have to shutdown and it comes back.  It is very frustrating and, 
from Googling, many others are having the same issue, but I haven't been able 
to solve it completely yet.
