Fusion 6 supports Windows 8 so you shouldn't have to upgrade just for that. Actually, after reading through Fusion 7 improvements, the only one interesting to me is power savings for laptops, but that hasn't really been an issue for me.

Unfortionnetlly fusion 5 will not work under yosemity.  Fusion 7 should work
fine under both oses.
