This is really becoming a major problem for me. I am running Yosemite. In Mail, when I am typing, apostrophes are spoken as apostrophes. But when I do cmd-semicolon to check spelling, I find that most words with apostrophes in them have been joined to the word after them and sometimes a letter is even dropped or inserted and the apostrophe is spoken as a single quote. I have to go through and manually put a space again after the word that contains the apostrophe and delete any other letters that have been added or add ones that have been deleted. When I went into “edit” in the menus, correcting grammar didn’t seem to be checked or unchecked so I checked it and then unchecked it and for a short time I thought this had solved the problem. But it has come back. This doesn’t seem to be happening in Text Edit but only in mail; I knew I wasn’t that sloppy a speller or typist! This is making typing in Mail a dreaded chore as I find these errors in almost every email I type. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of this once and for all? This happens across keyboards so is not a keyboard malfunction. -- Cheryl
I tried and tried to turn over a new leaf. I got crumpled wads of tear-stained paper thrown in the trash! Then God gave me a new heart and life: His joy for my despairing tears! And now, every day: "This I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
