Last I heard the only way on current MacBooks was to have an external
monitor hooked up. Maybe some of the tricks from the MacMini external
monitor bug would work here as well.

Hi all,
I’d really love for my Macbook Pro to do a bit of work for me while
the lid is closed (e.g. wake up at a specific time to record a radio
show). While you can schedule an MBP to wake up at a prearranged time,
it appears that you must leave the lid open and not work in “clamshell
mode”, unless you have an external keyboard, monitor and mouse
connected to the computer.
Is there any way around this? I have heard of one third party utility
that forces the Mac to stay awake when the lid is closed, but that
isn’t exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t mind it going to sleep; I
just want to be able to wake it up at a chosen time.
Thanks,
Grant
