Hi Tim,

There is a package called brailleblaster at www.brailleblaster.org. It works
on mac, and does a nice job, but the installation is not simple. As the
package is free and open source, and as they really are interested in making
the package more functional, perhapse before you spend serious time and money
on windows alternatives you could get some tech support from the brailleblaster
comummunity and get the thing up and running. Then if you like it, you could
donate to the project. I’m sure you could get some one to help you rmotely
over the phone or by remote assistance on that basis and it would save you a
lot of money as well as helping the project.

By the by, Braille displays have had much more and better support put into them
than braille embossers and for some excellent reasons. Braille displays are
both smaller and cheeper. They require no paper and significantly reduce
waste. They are quieter. They allow you to do everything on the fly.

It’s getting very hard to justify embossers for anything other than production
environments.

Best,

Erik Burggraaf
