Thank you for your response. It is nice to know someone else has had the issue. 
I will do as you suggested and disable it. Unfortunately, I use my trackpad a 
lot so it will be difficult at first.
the bazaar thing is, my trackpad works perfectly fine when the keyboard seems 
to be locked.
