There is a free Daisy player for the Mac called Olearia but it does not have many features and I am not sure it still in development. The last time I pointed someone to the app he had problems installing it. If all you want to do is play mp3 based daisy books such as the one the RNIB produce then you will get a reasonable experience on VLC which can provide variable speed playback and navigate by the mp3 files. Unfortunately though I have not managed to get the bookmarking feature of VLC to work.
