I share this because I do not recall the following program mentioned
before. its called abc notation, and it allows a completely text based
means to compose and in combination with a ton of software play print and
translate into midi your work.

the software options are referenced by platform including mac and mobile
ones.
Equally there is a discussion list with yahoo groups. I am not the person
to ask about its function with voiceover for many reasons.
Still the tool profoundly simple yet amazingly functional may be of use to
those seeking composition options.
