The correct move command is command, option, v. not command, control, v. So
copy with command c, then go to where you want the file, then push command,
option, v. This will move the files instead of copying them. HTH

Two ways:

1. The faster method in most cases is to use the mv command from your terminal
shell prompt. It's even faster if you use tab completion to save typing, and
you also have the advantage of wildcard expansion for moving multiple files and
directories. People who don't know how to use command line interfaces well are
at a serious disadvantage as computer users.

2. From the finder, use command-c to copy the file to the clipboard, then
navigate to the destination directory and type command-ctrl-v (I hope that's
correct). It moves the file instead of copying it as the plain command-v
operation does.
