Hi listers, For english speaking Ipod touch owners, there are actually two voices to choose from. One is Samantha, who starts speaking by default. However, there is another more pleasant sounding Australian female voice. I think its Karen. To utilize this voice, without changing much else, do the following. From your home screen, click on settings. Next click general, and then internationalization. When in internationalization, change the region to Australia. You will notice the voice change instantly. Note: Your date will appear in a different format if you use this. However, all punctuation on the keyboard is pronounced the US way. In other words, a period is still a period, and not a dot. A backslash remains a backslash, etc. The only noticeable change so far as typing is concerned, is that Z is pronounced Zed. Aside from that, I have noticed no consequences or alterations from changing my region setting. I think its worth it for the much more pleasant sounding voice.
hope this helps someone. Don't know if it works the same way on the Iphone.
