Hi Joseph, This may be totally wrong, and I admit I've not tried myself but what if you focused your mouse pointer on the button with vo+command+f5 and switched of your trackpad commander, and then literally hold down the option button and click the physical mouse pad? It might work, it's certainly worth trying.
