In relation to your Safari question you need to go to Safari Preferences and change th behaviour of Safari at start to open new window. Then you need to go to change the behaviour of open new window to load your home page. Now when you start Safari you should open your Home page each time.
These are the first settings you should come to in Safari preferences.
