Kliph,
I played around with some settings in this app.

If I choose the Rip and Convert option, and the default ratio (I think that is what it is), a movie that is 4.3 gigs in size is compressed to 1.4 gigs. The resulting format is mp4. If I play this movie, I get a chapter m,enu, and the playtime is correct. I did not see anything else to view any special features, just a chapter menu.

If I choose Main Movie Only, the resulting format is DVD Player Doucment.

The help for this app is lacking answers. So it looks like the Rip and Convert option is what I want.

How large is it making the file when you do main movie only? When I have done
it, usually it’s only about 1GB, or 900MB. This is also true when I have it
automatically import into iTunes.

Wwll I have done some dvds and now need to pose some questions, perhaps
Kliph can answer them.

I am using the Main Movie Only option. But this does not compress the file
and I am fast running out of room.

The rip and convert option will compress but does this then rip all the
files, not just the main movie file? And will it create the format compatible
with iTunes?

   Thanks.

Yes, I believe this is how I have it all set up but the DVD Ripper is not
recognizing a lot of my cloned DVDs. I have disabled the preinstalled DVD
player from launching when I insert a DVD just having DVD Ripper opened and
discs will be in the drive for 3 to 5 minutes but the Ripper keeps me on the
opening screen where your registration is then my disc kicks out of the DVD
slot on the iMac. Very strange as a few have worked but most of them the Ripper
is not recognizing which is very strange considering the program claims to work
with home movies you would think the program would work with Cloned DVDs from
Netflix.

Once I took DVD Player out of the picture and set the automatically rip and
eject options, its been painless.

The movies are in iTunes, I just have to figure out how to actually select a
title and play it in iTunes 12.

I am not clining or making backup copies. My plan is to move the library at
some point to an external drive.

Next thing is to play the movies on Apple TV. May also look at using Airplay
on iPhone ir iPad to play this media if I do not want to sit by the TV.

Hey Cliff, Thanks, yes, I selected mpeg4 and selected the preference to
automatically load to iTunes, just was not sure if there were some other
settings I needed to concern myself with. One thing I am noticing is that a lot
of my DVDs that I cloned are not being recognized either my Mac DVD drive or
the ripper. Strange as some are working and some are not, not sure why this is
happening, but I have thousands of DBDs that I ripped from Netflix back when I
could see, so need to figure out why some of the DVDs are not being read by my
drive.

If you pick mp4 as the out put format, then you can have it automatically
import them in to iTunes for you. You may not be able to play them in the
cloud, but you can stream them to your appleTV, and sync them to your phone.
Also, you can choose to rip the main movie only, and it will name the track for
you and tell you what it is. Who needs all those extras and menus if you just
want to watch the movie. HTH

I had read on the list about Mac DVD Ripper Pro, and have gotten the program
and ripped my first few DVDs. I wanted to check if anyone had any advice on
settings as I have a lot of DVDs from when I could still see that I cloned from
Netflix. The DVDs that I cloned played and looked great, but when I am ripping
them they seem to be unlabeled and I wanted to see if there were any tricks or
settings I need to be looking in to as I want to rip my entire DBD collection
since I cannot read what they are, and install them on my external hard drive
and play them in iTunes. Also does anyone know of any way that you might be
able to play these DVDs that you have in iTunes on your iPhone, as it looks
like iTunes match will not allow you to play your movies only music. Any advice
is greatly appreciated, and thanks to whoever initially posted about this
program.
