Hi Don,
Press enter to answer a  call. This should work no matter where you are as the 
incoming call display should steal focus. To access the Notification Centre 
press vo-m-m to open the extras menu, vo-arrow to Notification Centre and 
vo-space to activate. You can also set up a keyboard shortcut to open the 
Notification Centre. Mine is control-command-n. You can set this up under 
System Preferences > Keyboard > shortcuts tab.
