Briefly Yes, you also need to install the ScanSnap Manager application to use the ScanSnap. It comes with ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap – a special version of FineReader which works seamlessly with the scanner. Yes, the ScanSnap IX500 automatically scans both sides of the page if it is double sided. It either doesn’t scan both sides if it is single sided or, probably more likely, it removes any blank pages automatically from the document it creates. It does a fantastic job with this. The footprint of the scanner is very small. Around the size of a shoe box or smaller.
