iBooks on Yosemite is definitely an improvement over Mavericks, but I'm still 
using iOS for my book reading and can't really see any great loss in not having 
iBooks for Mac.  The issue the silly way it stores your books in the iBooks 
container in ~/Library/Containers, which basically makes it impossible to put 
your books anywhere but the boot drive, or back them up.  It also doesn't 
support PDFs (of which I have many hundreds) or custom metadata.  In short: not 
interested.
