That worked. I am impressed. Thanks a lot.

Hi, so when you hit CMD f5, you said you get a ingle beep? That beep is for your user name, enter that correctly and then you will hear two beeps for password. Enter that correctly and press enter. You will hear three beeps and you have to wait a bit for logging in.

God bless. :)

The problem is that I'm stuck on the log-in screen without speech. I think I actually enabled the vault during the update to Yosemite.

So, even Apple leaves us speechless sometimes *smile*.

Right now, no MAC for me today then.

If you have File vault enabled, and you are using an older mac, then all you will hear is the single beep for user name, double beep for password. You can however turn VO on the log on screen. If you go into system preferences, go to users and groups, interact with the user table and VO until you hear Log in Options. Stop interacting, and check the box that says use voiceover on the log on window. Please note that you will have to check the "Click the lock to makes changes" checkbox and enter your password.
HTH.

God bless. :)

Hi,

I am not getting any speech on the log-on screen and am thus unable to find out where to type the password.

Since I can't get VoiceOver turned on by using Cmd+f5, does anyone know how to turn VoiceOver on from the log-on screen? When I press Cmd+f5, I just get a beep.

Could it be a place where VoiceOver lets us down?

Daniel
