I did something similar with a Windows phone.
I needed to move through a text character by character. I couldn't do
it, so I grabbed the iPhone using KNFB Reader and took a picture of the
Windows phone screen and was able to get the text and read it character
by character.

Wow. That is really amazing. I will definitely have to see about this
too. Thanks for The tip. It is really appreciated. This goes to show
that Knfb reader is really amazing! This app will always come in handy
for us blind users.

Hi guys
Yesterday, a blind friend of mine told me something that I didn’t
think one could do, so I just decided to test it. She and a blind
friend of hers were updating Yosemite this past week, and for some
reason, probably because she is a new Mac user, she was on the phone
with Apple accessibility at that 877 number. The advisor just
happened to say that he wished they had a sighted person present to
check to see how much time was left on the update. Of course,
VoiceOver was out of the picture at that moment, so her totally
blind friend whipped out his iPhone with KNFB reader and scanned the
screen and found out how much time was left. She told me this, and I
was skeptical because I had tried it before and it didn’t work. So I
increased the brightness on my screen, and sure enough, my iPhone
read the screen. It wasn’t perfect, but enough to figure out what
was on there. So next time I need a sighted person to scan the
screen, maybe I’ll try the iPhone first.
