1. In Mail, hit cmd-comma, choose the Accounts tab from the toolbar, and find and activate the Add button.
2. You have a bunch of radio buttons, each a different account type. Choose Gmail. I don't remember if that opens the next screen straight away, or if there's a Continue button. 3. Once on the next screen, fill in the text fields. Remember that, if you use two-step verification on your Gmail account, you'll need to create an app-specific password on the Gmail website - your regular password won't do it. 4. That should be all you need to do.
