Not sure it matters anymore as that was over five years ago now. Maybe
someone else on the list has more current info on dlink accessibility.
If you didn't need the ADSL interface, for the cost an Airport would be
quite nice. Maybe a simple DSL to Ethernet box like this one for US$34:

Hi,
the one I am looking at is $300.00 aud., about top of there range I think. Was
the web interface accessible at that time?
Yours was about the time when Dlink had a bad name here.
Thanks again.

Wow, had to dig a bit to figure that out and I purchased it March 2010. Hard to
believe it was that long ago. I probably fiddled with it on and off for a year.
I had an older 802.11b wifi router I wanted to upgrade to 802.11n so this
seemed like just the thing. Eventually I reverted back to the old unit and
saved up for something else. I ordered the Airport Feb 2012 after realizing I
had pretty much flushed money down the drain on the DLink. I really didn't have
time to sit on hold with tech support and diagnose an intermittent issue. The
DLink was, at the time, about US$75 and the Apple Airport Extreme was US$165 so
maybe I was expecting too much from such a cheap unit, but I guess I'm getting
less tolerant of basic commodity technology that doesn't work reliably.

Thanks,
I would like to do that but I can not find a DSL to ethernet modem here. Could
you tell me how long ago you had your Dlink?

Not sure what the cost difference is but the DLink DIR-628 I had was nothing
but trouble. Couldn't get my devices to stay connected. I finally spent a lot
more and got an Apple Airport and all the problems went away. It just works. If
it were me I would get a simple DSL to Ethernet router and the connect that to
an Airport for all the Wifi stuff.

Hi all,
after 8 years I need to purchase a new modem router. I am looking for a duel
band. I am looking at a Dlink 2890al. this number may not be the same in all
countries as I believe Dlink market there products differently around the
world. I was not a fan of Dlink years ago but I understand they have lifted
there game. Can anybody tell me if the web interface is accessible using
Safari? I am also interested in opinions on this router. I have been using a
Billion up to now. I have been reading reviews that say they are not as good as
they used to be.
Thanks for any help.
Max.
