Oh my heavens, yes! The new mac mini's are incredibly! and I do mean
incredibly! well priced. If memory serves correct, an I5 4GB ram, 5200RPM
mac mini is somewhere in the ballpark of $580 before tax. And yes, it would
come with Yosemite. Now, beware, it doesn't come with a monitor, speakers,
a mouse, or keyboard. You'd have to buy those separetly, however, you can
get a fairly decently cheap monitor for just over $100. In fact, what I've!
actually done is to get a cheap little flat pannel television with HDMI.
Then, I just ran the mac directly into it, then set the source on the TV to
HDMI, and boom! There you go! A very nice monitor, and, the sound audio
even will be piped through the TV speakers, eliminating the need for seperet
PC speakers. Now, that said, if you're gonna do audio production stuff, I
don't know how serious you are about that side of music production, but if
you're a pro, like me, then obviously, you're going to want to get a higher
end audio interface, and maybe even a control surface. The surface isn't
required, but it certainly bigtime will help. The interface however would
almost definitely be a given. One interface I really really love, it's not
being made any longer, but search Amazon, or EBay or the like, as I'm
positivbe! you could find one still new unboxed, is the M-Audio Fasttrack
C400. It's even very portable and quite accessible. If you find one, I'd
be happy to help you set it up over Facetime, Skype, or the like. It would
be a pleasure to do so. Also, obviously, if you're really serious about
this, I'd look into a pare of good studio monitors.
It really does just depend on how far you want to take things.
Then, of corse, though Logic X is doable, dont' get me wrong, the
accessibility isn't probably going to be the most ideal. Let me be very
clear, so I don't get my ass kicked. Logic does? work, yes, but! you will
be somewhat limited.
Though way more expensive, I'll admit, ProTools definitely! is the way you'd
wanna go.

Hi!
I am about to buy a new mac soon this year.
But i really don't know what to buy which fits my needs.
I will search for some funding to have the ability to buy a new one.
So i guess there wont be no mac pro which anyway is a bit overkill even
though it could be cool to have one.
And i am totally blind so i don't need the imac with retina support.
What i want is a computer for mail, internet and some music production.
Will a new mac mini be enough for music production or should i stick with
a macbook pro?
I really need some suggestions even though i know its hard to help.
I now have a mac mini mid 2011 which ofcourse begins to be a bit oldish.
The new upcomming macbook seems to be a bit to much for the money i think.
So please help.
