You inspired me to return to Nisus today as I needed to write a blog which I had recently been doing in TextEdit. Returning to Nisus was a comfortable experience with simple things remaining simple. I like the way that when the app opens you are just in a blank document and can start typing immediately without having to interact with templates etc or dismiss cloud options. I know there are work around for these things in other apps but it is nice not to have to do it. There are also familiar features like the save filename defaulting to the first line of text, which of course is normally the title of the documents. This will be a familiar experience to people used to using Word.

There are of course a host more features available through the comprehensive menu system.

Hi David,

I’ve heard good things about Nisus writer pro.

In the Australian Mac app Store I believe it’s AU$99.

Will give it a try.

Do have a copy of Microsoft Office 2013 which I fire up from time to time but
trying to use Mac OS X for my educational needs.

Kind regards,

Nisus is a more expensive option than iText but Nisus Writer Pro is a fully
featured Voiceover Accessible Word Processor for the Mac which has an interface
which is more familiar to people used to Windows Word processors like Word than
Pages. . I must admit I have not done extensive word processing on it and
mainly use it as my default PDF viewer which is a nice bonus but many people
use it as their preferred Mac app for creating and editing text.
The main access adjustment is that you will get best Voiceover feedback when in
draft view.

I paid about £40 for it but it appears from time to time at reduced rates from
sites such as Mac-Update and has also been bundled with other apps in some of
their bargain offers.

Hi,

Have tried text edit. But found it a little too simple for my needs.

Kind regards,
