I doubt that it's a virus of any sort. If it was, you would be having
more than just issues with image. You may wish to get rid of the iMovie
pList file from your Preferences and see if this reset clears any issues.
• Go to the Finder.
• Up to Go in the menubar.
• With VO keys pressed, go down to the Library item, then press return.
• navigate to the Preferences folder.
• look through the list for the com.apple.iMovie.plist file and Trash it.
When you open iMovie the next time it should rebuild that pList file and
see how things go from there.
