Last week I experienced a sudden and inexplicable loss of battery performance
on my iPhone 6. I took all steps I could think of, but I was still seeing my
battery performance plummet, requiring two charges in a day compared to ending
the day with at least 40% charge before the problem started.
Apple support wasn’t much help, but after trying the official list of cures,
the tech did offer some anecdotal
advice about killing the battery once a month, running it down to 0%. His only
other solution was a factory reset and setup as a new phone - no thanks!

Well, I tried it, and it seems to have done the trick as my battery is
performing as it always did before. Its almost as if a total discharge had the
effect of resetting the battery circuitry. It’s worth a try next time you have
some maddening and inexplicable battery drainage issues.
