Sorry this is late, but I also had this problem with my MB Pro. Just take a Q tip with the fuzzy stuff off and stick it in the hole for headphones. Not sure how it does it but sometimes it will switch to digital input and will not respond to a 3.5 jack. The Q tip will reset the jack back to default.
